The Asia Cup 2023 marks the return of Asia’s biggest cricketing behemoths as they battle for supremacy and ready themselves for the grand-daddy of them all – the World Cup in India. Six teams in India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and defending champions Sri Lanka will tussle for a place in the final.
A total of 13 matches are to be played, and its format is as uncomplicated as they come. Four out of six teams will qualify for the Super 4s, after which the top two will clash for the title in the final.
The road to the Super 4s and the final will be determined by the number of points each team earns during the course of the tournament.
The six teams will be split into two groups of three. India, Pakistan and Nepal have been placed in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will represent Group B.
Each team will be rewarded with 2 points for a win and zero on suffering a defeat. In case of a tie, the 2 points will be split into 1 each.
The points-table will also feature the deal-breaker of the net run-rate, which will come into effect when teams are deadlocked with the same number of points.
